Akilah Watts
Akilah works with a number of media including drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture as well as high and low relief paintings.
Some of her works deal with pop culture and cultural exchange as well as Barbadian folklore and traditions through ideas of play and souvenirs. Watts’ new works touch on issues such as race, culture as well as ideas of belonging and beauty.

Rhiannon Marquez is a visual story teller combining the use of traditional medium format and 35mm film with DSLR photography to capture people’s narratives. She was born in Toronto and grew up in Barbados, cultivating unique perspectives of culture. She intermingles the fun colours of the Caribbean with that of the busy city of Toronto now that she resides there once again. Placing a spotlight on people that see the city as a second home and have come to find happiness outside of their first home, a series she uses to show this is “This is Home Too”. The theme of community and belonging shows throughout her practice, in the podcast “Framed With Love” she interviews creatives about their practice and how love impacts it . She works primarily as a photographer, to tell a story with a unique angle through each image.
